Miss Shifawn is starting her 24th season with Steppin' Out Dance Center. In 2009 she took over as Director of the studio from her mother Miss Shelly.
She has danced since the age of two and is an SODC Alumni dancing competitively for many years. After graduation she attended the University of Toledoand was on the UT Rockette Dance Team. Shifawn has studied under many talented professionals and has continued her education by attending Dance Caravan and Rhee Gold's DanceLife Conference. She has choreographed and judged for several cheerleading programs, talent shows, school musicals, and show choirs both locally and throughout the state. She is a Guest Master Teacher who travels to share her love of dance with other studios. She has won numerous Choreography Awards, Performance Awards and Overall High Score Awards at many Regional Dance Competitions and in 2016 at our first Nationals. The studio has won the ADCC (Association of Dance Conventions and Competitions) Studio of Excellence Award three years in a row 2015, 2016, and 2017.
She loves to spend time with her husband and three children, Hayleigh, Carsten, and Brexley.
Miss Karin is beginning her 17th season at SODC. She has danced since the age of three and is an SODC Alumni.
After growing up in competition dance, she went to BGSU to major in elementary education with a minor in fine arts. Miss Karin has taken numerous classes from many talented professionals. She has attended Dance Caravan and Rhee Gold Dance Conference to continue her education. Miss Karin has performed in local productions of Oliver, 42nd Street, Anything Goes, Crazy For You, as Fiona in Shrek the Musical, and most recently in Cabaret Lima. She also won an award for her choreography for Encore Theater's performance of Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, and Little Women. In addition, she has choreographed pieces for Cabaret Lima, Square Fair, Lima Symphony Orchestra, and SODC's Company members earning numerous awards. Miss Karin is an asset to our staff at SODC.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters Alanna and Arianna and her son Anderson.
Miss Kealey has been teaching at SODC for 11 years and has danced since she was 2 years old at SODC. She was a Steppin' Out Dance Center Company member and alumni.
She attended Wright State University where she was on the Emerald Jazz Dance Team. She taught at All That Dance in Springboro, OH during college. She has been a coach for the Lima Rebels. She has taken classes from several leading professionals. She has won several overall, judge's awards and special awards for her choreography and most recently was a 2015 Stars Dance Alliance Winner for having the highest score in the country. We are fortunate to have Miss Kealey on our staff. She is our certified tumbling instructor.
In her spare time Miss Kealey sells LuLaRoe Clothing and enjoys spending time with her husband Andy and her three children Brandt, Kade and Emerson.
Miss Amy is beginning her 5th year on staff with us here at SODC.
She attended Lima Technical College and is a nurse at St. Rita's Medical Center. She comes to us with a full background of tap, jazz, ballet and lyrical. Miss Amy teaches in our recreational program and has done an amazing job with our students. Currently, she is a substitute instructor. Her bubbly personality and love for the art of dance is helping SODC to grow. We are so happy to have her on staff.
In her spare time Miss Amy spends time with her husband Bill and her children Caleb, Natalie and B.J.
